I made a thread few days ago:
What's do you think of this opinion?
"Creativity doesn't count as original anime copyyng off one another for years and years upon end. If anything, whatever supposed Golden era the industry had likely ended with Bubble Crash back in 1986."

A mod removed it and said it broke the rule 2d, which is:
d. personal storytelling, narration, ranting, and/or blog-style posts; these topics only encourage a one-way discussion where members are commenting on the poster's idea, and should be posted using blog feature instead.

How come, I don't get what's wrong about it.

Well you are asking people to give their opinion on your 'statement / idea' isn't that exactly what the rule is trying to prevent?

  1. These topics only encourage a one-way discussion where members are commenting on the poster's idea (or vice versa).

Don't worry. There are many people like you on here.
You took what you think and tried to make it into an event that needs to be discussed.

You're not that important^^
You tried to tell a story about yourself. Rule 2 doesn't allow that.

I do think it's pretty inconsistent, tho
@thewiru does it every day and not many of his Threads are actually removed, as they should be.

His trick is to add "Did you ever encounter something like that?" at the end, whether it fits or not.
Maybe you should just copy that. That way you can babble about yourself as much as you want, cause it's masked as an actually discussion at least^^

@Merve2Love Yea, for having participated myself a lot in recent @thewiru's threads, he actually starts from his personal experience, tries to extrapolate it to a higher order of discussion, and it (indeed) often ends with a generalized question.

The thing is his questioning fits the rules, while being grounded on personal life experience or personal pondering. I wouldn't call it "a trick". You can't just add a random question at the end of your (partial) biography. It needs to be weaved into your "philosophical narrative" as a thread opener.

Tell me how this is not against the rules that were just described to OP.

- His opening is him referring to another Thread that HE made
- "We aaaall do" ---- There are about 8 general statements, he just made up, in this post. General statements like the one that got OPs Thread removed.
- He's telling us what he watches on Youtube
- He's telling us a personal story, about how he discovered and got to like a certain type of music

It's all about himself. It's all violating Rule 2.

And yes, he ends with a generalized question. That question is the ONLY question he asks. The rest is just a diary-entrance. He might aswell stand on a podium, giving a lecture.

I think it's a trick. It's just selfimportant babble, ending as if he actually wants to know what everybody thinks^^
He just wants attention and this Thread should've been removed.

@Merve2Love His thoughts are a mess, I won't deny that...

- His opening is him referring to another Thread that HE made

This line is unnecessary, without a link reference, and worse it is borderline against the duplicate post rules.

But I'm afraid it's technically not against the rules. I've seen mods themselves link to other similar threads. In this particular case, you could see them as 2 complementary topics he made and people can answer to both of them while organizing their answers/thoughts. (On a personal note, too lazy to look up for it without a link and the other topic is not that interesting to me.)

- "We aaaall do" ---- There are about 8 general statements, he just made up, in this post. General statements like the one that got OPs Thread removed.

He doesn't do it well, but he talks about his experience with other people, not a personal POV. He has trouble identifying the general idea he wants to convey behind it, most likely a social studies concept, but I don't think this approach makes it less valid.

- He's telling us what he watches on Youtube

He provides example of his question with classical music knowledge. I just ignored that part in my answer as you can see. I actually have been introduced to a bit of Satie's Gymnopédies myself when I was younger, so I can see how this reference might seem obscure to most people. However, it's only a mere example of what kind of topic he's looking for.

- He's telling us a personal story, about how he discovered and got to like a certain type of music

He emphasizes on the age gap, circling back to his initial question. The tone is a bit too personal, though, I'll admit it.

To summarize:

The FORM is sometimes unclear, and blends in a personal tone, because his questioning stems a lot from personal experience. However, the SUBSTANCE behind the topic is clearly conveyed through the topic title. "Why are welike this?" and all the others WE make it feel less personal, and tries to include us in the discussion.

Comparison?

However, the OP statement

Creativity doesn't count as original anime copyyng off one another for years and years upon end. If anything, whatever supposed Golden era the industry had likely ended with Bubble Crash back in 1986.

sounds too direct. It looks like a delivered fact, not even an opinion, because of the impersonal form (no I, no We). It would be better to start with "I think that.." or "In my opnion.."; then complete this with a question directed toward the community.

I agree sometimes rules can seem unfair especially if @thewiru looks like he's circumventing them. In truth, I don't think he is actively trying to circumvent them.

What he does: He merely expresses his doubts and looks for answers in the community.
What is actually forbidden: Stating facts and grand statements without looking up for a discussion.

I'm a fact enjoyer myself, but I sometimes have to remind myself there are people with different sensibilities, opinions, life experience, education or cultural background behind the screen. It's not always easy.

There is only one rule if the mods arbitrarily determine they don't like you or your thread it is getting locked or deleted.

You did need to phrase it more as an open question though rather than a statement and asking for opinions on the statement.

That explained them better than i ever could, honestly.

I mostly use my threads as a way to connect with people through discussion, I enjoy making them open-ended. Indeed, the thing that makes me prolofic at making them is the same one that makes it difficult for me to write essay-scripts: I'm more about discussing the subjects, listening to what other people have to say about them or how they interpret those rather than giving absolute, final statements about them.

@thewiru

How are you "connecting with people" when you just bombard them with your boring life, every day?
You don't. You're just a narcissist. And you're not interesting.

Things you are "discussing" are all about yourself, always and only.
